18, Murata is a curatorial project and gallery space run by artist Fuyumi Murata, based in Shinagawa, Tokyo. From 2017 to 2020, it operated under the name “mumei” within a shared studio in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, organizing exhibitions for artists such as Yusuke Muroi, Barbara Signer, Mayumi Hosokura, Yasuaki Hamada, and Yuhei Kobayashi. In 2024, it was relaunched under its current name and location, presenting exhibitions by Fumimaro Ayano, Shiho Saito, Miki Morioka, Margherita Raso, and Yuumi Takamizawa, among others. That same year, 18, Murata participated in Basel Social Club. In September 2024, the gallery co-founded the Numanohashi Residency, an artist-in-residence program in Bunkyo, Tokyo, offering opportunities for artists from Japan and abroad to stay and create. Through these activities, including a forthcoming presentation at Liste Art Fair in 2025, 18, Murata fosters connections between local communities and diverse cultures.
