ShugoArts
(Tokyo)
ShugoArts is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring four artists with connections to Kyoto: Yukio Fujimoto, Rina Matsudaira, Anju Michele and Ritsue Mishima.
Kyoto has long fostered new forms of creativity while carrying its traditions forward. This exhibition brings together four artists whose practices are connected to the city in different ways.
Beginning with sound objects, Yukio Fujimoto has developed interactive works that invite us to reconsider our perception. Rina Matsudaira works with the materials and techniques of traditional Japanese painting while exploring contemporary yet universal themes of human nature. Moving between different cultural backgrounds, Anju Michele constructs a distinctive visual world imbued with a sense of weightlessness. Ritsue Mishima explores the expression of light through the forms of glass.
Against the backdrop of Kyoto, a city that has embraced diverse genres and cultures, the exhibition brings together a range of expressions through sound, image, form, material and light. We invite you to experience the exhibition space, where these distinct works resonate with one another.
