BCK Fellowship: A Future Fostered by Culture

At this year’s ACK, a new fellowship program will be launched in collaboration with Bangkok Kunsthalle with the aim of supporting the next generation of artists. Beyond such fellowships, the support available to artists today takes various forms, including patronage by collectors, activity support from galleries, production assistance through residency programs, and cultural exchange. In this talk, in addition to announcing the first recipients of the fellowship, we will welcome guests from both the private sector and cultural institutions to discuss what forms of support and opportunities can contribute to fostering the next generation of artists, and what efforts might shape, or even protect, the culture of the future.

Bangkok Collaborate Kyoto Fellowship (BCK Fellowship)

Bangkok’s new cultural institution, Bangkok Kunsthalle, and Art Collaboration Kyoto have jointly launched a new award.
In addition to financial support, the award offers the recipient a residency and exhibition opportunity in Bangkok.
Through encounters with different cultures, the program aims to broaden the recipient’s perspective on artistic expression and open up new possibilities for their creative practice.

Eligibility: Artists who have exhibited with ACK

Selection Process:
From November 13 to 14, four judges will visit each artist’s booth to review the works in person and conduct the evaluation. The results will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled on November 15, held at the venue of the talk program. Following the announcement, a talk program featuring the judges and special guests will also take place.

Speaker’s Profiles
 

Marisa Chearavanont

Born in South Korea and naturalised Thai, Marisa Chearavanont is a philanthropist, art collector, and patron dedicated to connecting Thai culture with the world through art, education, and gastronomy.
In 2022 She founded Khao Yai Art Forest and Bangkok Kunsthalle, aiming to position Thailand as Southeast Asia’s hub for contemporary art. A member of Tate Modern’s Asia-Pacific Acquisition Committee and the New Museum’s International Leadership Council, she was the inaugural recipient of the RINASCIMENTO+ Award in 2022.

Rémy Jarry

Rémy Jarry is an art historian, curator, and writer based in Bangkok. Living in Asia since 2011, he is currently a Lecturer at Chulalongkorn University and an Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University of Paris, while working as an art critic and curator. Fluent in English, French, and Chinese, Rémy holds a PhD in Art History and Theory from the China Academy of Art, as well as an MA in Journalism and an MBA from Sorbonne University, Paris. An alumnus of the Oxford Cultural Leaders Program (University of Oxford – Saïd Business School), he is a member of AICA, CIMAM, ICOM, and TIAMSA.

Mori Kyoto

A member of the Mori Art Museum Board of Trustees since 2019, Mori Kyoko assumed the position of the Museum’s chairperson in January 2025. She is also the managing director of the Mori Contemporary Art Foundation (MoriCAF), a foundation established by Mori Art Museum Chairperson Emerita Mori Yoshiko, and is dedicated to promoting Japanese contemporary art on the international stage. Additionally, Mori serves as a trustee of the Obayashi Foundation, a board member of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and a trustee of The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts.

Stefano Rabolli Pansera

A graduate with Honours from the Architectural Association in London, he worked with Herzog & de Meuron. After that, he realized projects at the intersection of art, architecture, and geopolitics across Africa, Europe, and the Mediterranean.
He curated the Golden Lion-winning Angola Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale, designed the Mangiabarche Open-Air Gallery in Sardinia, and served as Director at Hauser & Wirth in London and St. Moritz from 2017 to 2022, developing major institutional collaborations with Christoph Büchel and the Panza Collection.

Sone Yutaka

Born in 1965, he began his career after studying fine art and architecture at Tokyo University of the Arts. He currently maintains studios in Mexico, China, Belgium, and Japan, and is active both domestically and internationally. He participated in the “Sculpture Project Münster” in Germany (1997) and the Venice Biennale in Italy (2003), and has since held numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. In recent years, notable projects in Japan include the creation of the exterior wall for the flagship store of Isabel Marant and a public art commission at Azabudai Hills.
His debut work Her 19th Foot is currently on view in the exhibition Prism of the Times at the National Art Center, Tokyo (on display until December 8, 2025).
