4649 and Lomex will present a joint booth at ACK 2024, presenting the work of three painters from 4649: Yusuke Abe, Olim Saeki and Ryu Takeda. Each of these three painters, born around 1990, is an emerging group of painters who, while influenced by Japanese representation, have concentrated on a unique style of production that deeply explores the relationship between themselves and their paintings.
As galleries in Tokyo and New York that started at the same time and in the same generation, Lomex has long felt sympathy with them, and surprisingly, this is the first time they have collaborated with each other. We hope you will take this opportunity to view the booth.

4649 (f. 2017) is a curatorial project and space in Sugamo, Tokyo run by artists Yuhei Kobayashi, Jeans Huang and Yuu Takamizawa. 4649’s on-site programme focuses on exhibitions with emerging, international artists to introduce their work to the Tokyo art scene. 4649 also participates in off-site projects, exhibiting Tokyo- based artists internationally. Recent exhibitions include Raiki Yamamoto (2024), Tojiba CPU Corp (2024), Motoko Ishibashi (2023), ‘Charles Manson, Timothy Leary and the Rats of NIMH’ (2023), presentations at Feria Material (2024), June Art Fair (2023), NADA Miami Project Booth (2018~2021) and more.

The gallery was founded in 2015 in New York by Alexander Shulan. Beginning in a historic studio space on the Bowery that once belonged to the artist Eva Hesse, the gallery has been primarily focused on showing emerging American artists. In 2021, the Gallery relocated to Tribeca to a newly renovated 2200 foot location. In 2023, the Gallery opened a second location across the street.
